IT Upgrades

Recognising the need to stay current with technology, Solomon Group has recently upgraded the programmes in the computer labs so students are able to familiarise themselves with and to use to Office 2010.  Staff Meetings via Skype is in the pipeline too!

Research Project - Improving Student Engagement in Tertiary Settings

In 2007 Solomon Group was asked by Massey University, to take part in two-year study that looked at how students engage with learning in tertiary institutions.  The results have recently been published and the entire project can now be accessed.

Business Awards

2009 Award

Following our success in the 2005 Maori Business Awards, Solomon Group have been successful in receiving awards from the Westpac Manukau Business Excellence Awards, most recently winning Excellence in Service Delivery in September 2009.

Adult Literacy Week 

Solomon Group Staff support Adult Literacy Week each year as much as possible, especially in supporting events held by the local libraries.  In 2009 Panmure Campus coordinated an event at Panmure library and presented alongside students from 3 other local training organisations. Later that evening Solomon Group staff and students were presented with 5 awards by the Auckland ACE Network at a celebration dinner.

Staff Development - NCALE

NCALE Graduation 2009

Solomon Group places strong emphasis on staff development.  In 2008 we committed to upskilling all staff in the National Certificate - Adult Literacy Educator.  This is seen as the new benchmark for the Tertiary Education industry and has a specific focus on Literacy.  On Friday 14 August 2009 Solomon Group celebrated staff attaining this certificate with a Graduation breakfast.  Since this gathering 3 more sets of Solomon Group staff have also had their completion of this qualification acknowledged.

Counties Manukau Youth Transition Service

CMYTS LogoSolomon Group was the Lead Provider for the Manukau Youth Transition Service from 2005 - 2008.  After successfully tendering, Solomon Group now manages an expanded service covering all of Counties Manukau and working with 3 different councils.  This service aims to support up to 2000 Youth at Risk per year in the region.

CMYTS Staff Earn Certificate in Youth Work Qualification

Adrian - toangaWe are pleased to announce that five of the CMYTS staff received their ‘Level Four Certificate in Youth Work’ from Te Waiariki Purea Trust in June 2010.  Linda, Myra, Crystal, Fua and Adrian were all awarded with a certificate and a taonga in acknowledgement of their accomplishments.  This qualification is the culmination of a years worth of hard work, weekend Wananga and practice journals and is a real success for all involved.
